Kelsie Brock Q&A

How long have you been in the real estate profession?

I’ve been a realtor for 5 years now.

How long have you been with O’Neal Real Estate?

I started my career with O’Neal Real Estate, so 5 years.

Which O’Neal Real Estate office do you work out of?

Roland office is my go to!

What do you recommend to first time home buyers?

Get with an agent that has your back & is willing to go the extra mile for you & then make the leap.

What are some fall market trends? (interior or exterior)

Black exteriors & “color drenching” meaning walls, trims, doors all the same color.

What can homeowners do to raise home value?

Updated kitchen & bathrooms always add value. Painted cabinets & new hardware can go a long way.

What are your best tips for homeowners selling or buying in the fall season?

Be prepared & open minded.

What are your favorite things about real estate (buying and/or selling) in the fall? (trends or looks? Market differences?)

My favorite thing about real estate in the fall is the temperatures, not too hot & not too cold to show property.

What are some features in a home that most people want or that are super popular? Big yard? Privacy fence? Certain exterior colors or materials?

Neutral colors, big yards, updated or large kitchens.

What are good qualities that people should look for in an investment/fixer upper home?

Make sure it has good bones.

What do you think is important in succeeding in the real estate profession?

The willingness to constantly learn new things, the willingness to work hard, & not being afraid to get your hands dirty.

Do most clients prefer homes on land and more rural or closer to the city?

In my experience, most clients do want a more rural setting.

What do you say to a client who is unsure of what they are wanting/looking for?

You gotta start somewhere. Tour some homes & find your personal pros & cons. Sometimes what we think we want isn’t always what we love. You’ll know when you find the one you’re looking for, it’ll feel right.

How is the right listing price for a home determined?

In the real estate world, we use price per square foot to determine price. The amount of land and/or shop buildings also come into play when determining a price. The more updated a house is the higher price per square foot we can go within the range of neighboring comparables.

What should buyers know before they start their home search?

Buyers need to know what their pre approved budget is before touring homes.

What sets you apart from other real estate agents?

A lot of dry humor, witty remarks, & clever comebacks. All jokes aside, loyalty, honesty, my adaptability, knowledge, & a little bit of creativity set me apart from everyone else.  My people can feel confident that I’m always on their side & will fight for their best interests, even if it’s not something they want to hear. I do well with relating to just about everyone I meet. I’ve had a unique, diversified go at life so far that’s allowed me to connect with people on numerous & various levels. I think people might mistake my age as a reflection of my real estate proficiency, & while I’m still learning, Im on year 5 in the industry & a couple hundred hours (& counting) of Tuesday morning trainings at ORE. I do some of the graphic designs for the firm’s social media page & I also created the logo for the Western River Valley Board of Realtors & Lyons Plumbing. It’s a major marketing tool I like to keep in my toolbox.

What is the best way for clients to contact you?

Texting!! I have two babies & let’s just say it’s never a quiet moment with them around!

Do you have any open houses or events coming up that people can go to?

I don’t, I usually do most of my showings on the weekends!
